Sometimes I drink too much, do things I regret and causes problems for myself and others. It has become clear that bravado and stories of heavy drinking serve to mask long-term issues. Nothing good ever comes from losing consciousness and with it control. That has happened far too often of late.
I’ve stopped drinking for a while to see if that helps me regain control. Recognising an issue is painful but doing so has helped me realise that I should also use this time to start necessary and important work on my personal development. Part of this process requires us to scale back cider making.
So we’ll be making less cider this year and not using our annual leave to pick and press, to see if we can recalibrate our lives and resolve some of the issues that have come to a fore.
Duckchicken isn’t going to disappear. We’re going to keep maintaining trees and making and drinking cider (and perry), just with some control and, hopefully, a more positive, responsible attitude.
